About me
If one picture says more than a thousand words, then a piece of jewelry tells a worldful of stories on its own. With its wearer a new unique whole is formed.
My name is Rita-Livia Erikson. I was born in 1990 in Tallinn, Estonia, and grew up near the capital, surrounded by nature.
I studied jewelry art in Estonian Academy of Arts, in the Department of Jewelry and Blacksmithing, and currently operate mostly in Viimsi and Tallinn. Since my graduation in 2012, I've been making jewelry and continuously improving my skill set. In my creations, I use mostly classical goldsmithing technologies and materials, like gold, silver, and natural gemstones.
In the fall of 2015, I went to the United States for 6 months where I studied faceting stones, and widened tremendously my knowledge and skills in the world of gemstones.
In 2017 I worked as a gemcutter for a ruby mining company in Mozambique.
I started my formal education in the field of gemology in 2018 at Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Bangkok. That year i completed the Graduate Colored Stones Program. The following year I returned to Bangkok to do the Graduate Diamonds Program as well, and thus got my formal Graduate Gemologist training completed in 2019. Spending all those months living in a city I consider to be the heart of the world of colored stones, I got much more familiar with the gemstone market, and also expanded greatly my knowledge and skills in gem cutting and polishing.
Since 2020 I've been teaching gemology to jewelry students, now in 2 different universities.
In 2023 I started with a series of workshops with the mission to share my knowledge about gemstones to all those that are interested.
Jewelry and gemstones are my life's big passion and joy. I continue to learn every time I work, in all the fields I combine. My goal is always to get better, to create beautiful things, and to spread the passion for gemstones and jewelry.
Learning and self development never end and I see every new challenge as a new opportunity to discover and do something new.
To me, jewelry is something very personal with lasting beauty and value.
